We are pleased to present Purple Ink’s Summer Issue!
This season we have a selection of articles discussing issues that we deem highly relevant. If you’re interested in Geography or Politics, be sure to read Isabelle Coughlan’s powerful article ‘Geographical borders & their role in the world we live in today’. Concerned about the lack of enthusiasm for learning languages amongst the British public? Head to Valentina Pinni’s article, ‘Does only being able to speak English make you lucky or lazy?’. Erin Kelly’s review of the National Theatre production of ‘Translations’, a play by Brain Fiel is a highly enjoyable read, particularly to those with a passion for theatre studies or English. Jessica Sharkey presents an interesting view in this issue of whether GDP is a good measure of economic activity or just a 'flawed economic tool from an industrial economy'? Finally if you are looking for a work of fiction read "White" by Ranyechi Udemezue, a short story written as part of her English Language GCSE preparation from Year 10.
Purple Ink aspires to broaden our school communities’ awareness for complex problems facing the world today, and hopefully inspire interest in particular topics personal to the reader.
Students from all years are encouraged to submit articles to the school magazine, and this input is vital so please start writing over the summer, and email any questions or drafts to purpleinkmag@gmail.com, we will always answer.
Thank you and happy reading!
