New Beginnings by Mia Osunakinda Mercanti 7M

People interpret the phrase ‘new beginnings’ differently. For some, it’s moving to another country and starting a new school. To others it’s having a really bad day and then waking up the next morning and thinking today is going to be great. The way you interpret it may be different to your neighbour, but the main concept is still there. A new beginning is a fresh start, it’s a start-over, a new leaf turned. It can be anything from having your birthday and turning older to moving house.

“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase”
Martin Luther King
Everyone will take something different from this quote. I think this quote means that when you have a new start, you should take the first step and even though you don’t know what’s coming, you should have faith that it’ll all work out.

“You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing we call ‘failure’ is not the falling down, but the staying down.”
Mary Pickford

This quote is telling me that even if I ‘fail’ or something doesn’t go my way, as long as we keep persisting and don’t stay down, we can always make it better and improve.
